You’ve heard all the cliches about practice what your preach and how so many people tend not to follow through on their own advice. When The Rishis first contacted me and I learned about flow and its amazing implications I knew that I had to strive to live up to the “flow lifestyle”. I’ve made many changes since that first contact in 2003, one of the greatest being my release of rituals and superstitions.
That’s why I am please to announce that The Rishis website (www.TheRishis.com) will be relaunched on April 1st, April Fool’s Day. The site will be much more robust and will finally include an eCommerce component so you’ll be able to learn a lot more about flow than is found on this blog and the site itself. Plus, there will be ebooks, information on my speaking engagements, and more.
Okay, enough of a plug for The Rishis website. Why is April 1st an important discussion point when it comes to the concept of flow? The Rishis have repeatedly said that flow is independent of any rituals or practices put in place by humans. April 1st, as you may know, originally was a sacred day for pagan cultures and was turned into April Fools Day by early Christians seeking to redefine religion for a new era. This was true with such things as Christmas trees, December 25th, and so on. So the day itself, April 1st, had different meanings depending on which culture was defining it — yet flow stays the same and always has.
In fact, even the date itself is defined by culture. We use the Gregorian calendar proposed by a Calabrian doctor Aloysius Lilius and sanctioned by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582. So April 1st was not technically even April 1st until well after Columbus sailed to the Americas. I’ve discovered my own life corresponds more to the Chinese calendar than the Gregorian one. My “year 2007” began mid-February, not January 1st.
Therefore, in flow there is no significance to any date. Starting a business on April 1st or Friday the 13th is no different than starting a business on April 2nd or Friday the 14th. The only significance is the one you place on it, and often that ends up being a blockage to flow. If you are so incredibly afraid of a certain date yet must perform an important task on that date, you will certainly have bad results since everything you do will be done in a state of nervousness and fear.
So while I am relaunching the site on April 1st, the reality is the date is more of a coincidence for me — it’s just when I was able to get everything done. But I KNOW that the site will be successful since it was and is all done through flow, and that means whether a black cat walks in front of me or I break a mirror on that day, everything will be fine.

I like the new look you're sporting on your blog! The green looks nice. Looking forward to your website launch!
